West Bengal Backward Classes Development & Finance Corporation
 
West Bengal Backward Classes Development And Finance Corporation (WBBCDFC) has been established by Govt. of West Bengal by an Act (Act XIX of 1995) on 10.10.95 for rendering financial assistance in the form of schematic loans to persons belonging to Other Backward Classes and living below double the poverty line. It acts as the Channelising Agency of National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC).
 
The West Bengal Backward Classes Development and Finance Corporation (WBBCDFC), a statutory body of the Government of West Bengal under the administrative control of Backward Classes Welfare Department, renders financial assistance in the form of Schematic loans to persons belonging to the notified Other Backward Classes and living below double the poverty line. It acts as a State Channelizing Agency of the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC).

As per the General Loan Agreement executed with NBCFDC, the State Government provide Block Guarantee and Share Capital to this Corporation for drawing of funds from the the apex Corporation. The State Government has provided guarantee of 26.71 crore and released Share Capital of Rs. 8.69 Crore to this Corporation till the end of 2006-07. Since opening its own office in March, 1999, this Corporation has started lending from August, 1999 and assisted 13,269 beneficiaries upto March, 2008 with total amount of Rs. 42.42 crore. This includes a special scheme (Swarnima) for women and Micro Finance Scheme for small borrowers.

Swarnima -A Scheme for Women
Under Swarnima Scheme Rs. 2,52,40,420/- has been disbursed to 493 women beneficiaries.
 
Micro Finance Scheme
Under Micro Finance Scheme Rs. 602.13 lakhs has been disbursed to 7019 beneficiaries. Out of which 309.81 lakhs to 170 Self Help Groups.
 
Education Loan
An amount of Rs. 44.08 Lakhs has been disbursed to 34 students (Engineering and Medical etc.)
 
Training
Under training Grant Schemes 20 training programmes have been conducted covering 981 candidates.
 
Recovery
Upto 31.03.2008 the Corporation has repaid loan installments to National Corporation (NSCFDC) to the tune of Rs. 22.67 Crores.
 
Annual Action Plan
This year we have an Annual Action Plan of Rs. 5.00 Crore for 2910 beneficiaries.
